Shakespeare once wrote a description of the blame game we as humans often play: “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.” We do indeed tend to blame everything outside of ourselves for the predicaments, situations and challenges we created and/or with which we find ourselves involved, overwhelmed and frustrated. Given the natural order is to seek equillibrium, we as humans seek satisfactuion and dependent upon maturation, how immediate we demand said gratiufication will be determined and the degree of selfishness we embrace will be exposed to others. Selfishness, it is said, is the root cause of the varied situations we created and within which we discover we are immersed.

EVERY YEAR IN MAY, YET NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW THIS…

There is another natural order – fight or flight – the Cortisol experience at the cellular level – does one stand and deliver or flee the location and avoid the confrontation? One often hears the question from others, “How did so many Jews choose to act placidly against the Nazi horror that would eliminate the lives of 6,000,000 of the detained Jews who were ‘concentrated’ into ‘camps’ in anticipation of the Nazi ‘final solution”?” One can argue that the situation was beyond anyone’s imagination and the horror that was occurring was greater than anyone coukld embrace as a conscious thought; let alone a cause to resists and a rally to stand against Hitler’s armed forces.

Many yet not enough people from all cultural backgrounds have written and continue to write about the Holocaust and/or to sustain the active collective memory of the 6,000,000 murdered Jews that are THE HOLOCAUST. Today’s commentary is not meant to replace or to augment anyone else’s writings or creative efforts relative to THE HOLOCAUST or to Judaism around the world or in the USA today. I merely want to showcase that the month of May is JEWISH AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH and there is much work to be accomplished to fulfill the objective of this enabling legislAtion introduced in 2005, yet stripped from the Federal budget in 2015.
